Experience a thrilling three-day adventure in the Toubkal Massif—home to North Africa’s highest mountain—while trekking through Jurassic-Cretaceous geology and scenic Berber villages.
Toubkal Ascent Hike, a part of the High Atlas Mountains, is a must-see for curious hikers and those who love hiking in the Toubkal Mountains. The volcanic Jbel Toubkal (Djebel Toubkal) is composed of Jurassic and Cretaceous formations.
Month Toubkal, with its highest point at 4,167 meters, the highest peak in all of North Africa. This peak is visible from the surrounding mountains. The hike will takes us to discover landscapes, through tiny villages clinging to the mountainside, lined with walnut trees, apple trees, and terraced fields, where only passes allow us to pass from one valley or village to another.
4-Day Toubkal Ascent Program:
Day 1: Marrakech
Welcome to Morocco, welcome meeting at 6:00pm

Day 2 Marrakech → Imlil → Toubkal Refuge 3 200 m
Early morning, the journey starts from Marrakech and transferred to Imlil, where you’ll meet the stuff and muleteers. From there, the trek begins with a gradual ascent through terraced fields in Aremd. Passing the holy shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, you’ll continue uphill along the Mizane Valley until you arrive at the Toubkal Refuge at approximately 3,200 m. Expect around 5 hours of hiking through stunning High Atlas terrain, and then spend the night at the mountain refuge.
Day 3: Refuge → Summit Toubkal 4 167 m → Return to Refuge
To make the most of cooler morning temperatures, you’ll start before dawn to begin the non- technical but demanding climb to the summit of Jebel Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak at 4,167 m. After a steady ascent of about 3 hours, you’ll reach the summit and be treated to sweeping views across the High Atlas—seeing ranges like Siroua and the plains surrounding Marrakech. After soaking in the panorama, you’ll descend back to the refuge in approximately 2.5–3 hours. You’ll enjoy tea and lunch there, followed by a relaxed afternoon at camp.
Day 4: Toubkal Refuge − Imlil − Marrakech
After breakfast, we descend gently along the same mule track to the marabout of Sidi Chemharouch 2250m, a venerated saint renowned for healing spiritual illnesses (King of the Devils), beneath a white-painted rock. Lunch at Imlil (1750m). A 4-hour descent, then around 1 p.m., we return to Marrakech.
Duration: 4 hours of walking / 1 hour 20 minutes of driving.
